Geomatikk Wins Nationwide Contract for Cable Location
Trafikverket in Sweden has signed a strategic multi-year contract with Geomatikk for delivery of a national and unified service for cable location and coordinate measurement within Sweden’s entire railway network. The procurement represents an important step in Trafikverket’s work to streamline and quality-assure the management of the extensive electrical, signaling, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Critical Infrastructure Requires Specialist Expertise

Trafikverket is responsible for a technically advanced and nationwide infrastructure where cables and technical equipment are placed in or adjacent to railway embankments as well as in public land. The assignment places high demands on technical competence and safety when working near railway facilities.

– We are happy and proud to have been awarded the assignment by Trafikverket. Cable location is our core business, and our entire organization is focused on protecting critical infrastructure in a safe and efficient way. With our solid competence and long experience, particularly from work in complex environments, we will contribute to fewer excavation damages and reduced disruptions in the track environment.

Erik Sjöberg, CEO of Geomatikk Sweden

Reduce Disruptions

The purpose of the procurement is to create a common and nationwide service for cable location for all lines within the railway system. Trafikverket also aims to achieve a better documented network and reduce disruptions in the track environment.

Effective cable location is a central part of Trafikverket’s strategy to reduce the risk of cable damage and their consequences:

  • Train delays
  • Disruptions in Trafikverket’s internal network for data and telecommunications
  • Disruptions in deliveries of data and telecommunications to external customers
Future-Proofing Swedish Railway Infrastructure

The contract with Geomatikk is part of Trafikverket’s continuous work to modernize and secure Sweden’s railway system. By investing in professional cable location and coordinate measurement, Trafikverket takes an important step toward reducing infrastructure-related disruptions and ensuring robust railway operations for the future.

– This collaboration represents an important milestone for both Geomatikk and Swedish railway infrastructure. We look forward to contributing to a safer and more efficient railway system that benefits the entire society,”  concludes Erik Sjöberg.
